Terms & conditions

1. The competition is being conducted by the State Library of Victoria as a promotion for their free family exhibition “Look: the art of picture books today”.

2. Entrants must be current residents of Australia aged between 2-12 years old. There will be three age categories in which entries will be judged (2-4, 5-7 and 8-12 years old).

3. To enter, entrants need to use the official entry form. These are available at the Library or can be downloaded and printed from slv.vic.gov.au/look. Entrants then create an illustration to match the story line provided on the entry form. Illustrations need to be created on page 2 of the entry form, not on another piece of paper.

4. Each month from December-April the story line will change, so entrants are able to enter each month if they wish to, or as many times as they like each month.

5. The first line and entry forms for that component of the competition will be released on exhibition launch day (December 4, 2010) and on the first Friday of each month thereafter (December until April).

6. Entries and completed entry forms must be mailed to the Library or submitted in person in the entry form box at the Library.

7. Monthly winners in each age group (3 per month total) will be selected by a panel of writers and illustrators, comprising Sally Rippin, Jane Godwin and Anna Walker.

8. Winners will be notified by the last Friday of each month starting 31 December.

9. Each winner will receive a Crayola pack worth $250.

10. A final overall winner from each age group will be chosen by the public through online voting in May 2011. This will be called the Children’s Choice Award. Prizes for major winners are yet to be determined.

11. All winners will be announced and displayed on this site. All entries will be displayed on the Flickr pool and may be reproduced by the Library for other print and online Library related materials.
